COMMERCIAL PROJECT MANAGER – ROCHESTER

Commercial Power Systems, based in Farmington, NY is an established industry leader in Central and Western New York, providing our customers with the highest quality Commercial and Industrial design, sales, and execution services for automatic standby generators since 2003. We are currently searching for an experienced Project Manager to join our team. To be successful in this position you must have:

General Description of Position:
As a Commercial Power System Project Manager you will be required to manage multiple project(s) to completion and to the satisfaction of both internal & external customers from receipt of contract through final customer acceptance. This position organizes, schedules, coordinates, purchases, communicates, and leads efforts of both internal and subcontracted resources. As part of the project management team, the CPS Project Manager shares the responsibility with the other members of the team to act in a manner that ensures the continued growth of the CPS business in line with the Company’s strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce schedules and cost estimates and review others for accuracy and completeness
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Prepare technical Submittals
  • Work directly with the Customer from preconstruction through the approval processes
  • Issues Purchase Orders and ensure that equipment deliveries meet project timeline
  • Coordinate equipment shipping, logistics, and deliveries
  • Coordinate site inspections
  • Coordinate equipment testing as required
  • Work with the CPS Operations Department to schedule internal resources and provide all required information to complete their work efficiently
  • Work with Sales Coordinators to prepare/update reports
  • Produce billing documents and initiate the invoicing process as well as follow up and final closeout documents as required
  • Maintain a high degree of product and industry knowledge of manufacturer programs, product updates, technical information, industry associations/agencies, codes, applicable Federal, State and Local laws/codes
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic and paper files on all projects

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in required safety programs, and work in a safe manner
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Sales Engineer manager

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Field experience as a Commercial / Industrial electrician is extremely important and will be of the highest importance in qualifying for this position   
  • A 4 Year Bachelor of Science degree is preferred in Electrical Engineering, and/or 5-10+ years of specific experience in the Power Generation market

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • 5-10 years of project management experience of diesel & gaseous engines, generator sets, paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches (ATS), or related projects
  • Strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and power generation systems (diesel & gaseous engines, transfer switches, paralleling switchgear, and supporting equipment) ideally along with in-depth knowledge of the Kohler and Generac product lines
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat business software
  • A team player – cooperative, collaborative, willing and able to work easily and synergistically with others
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and technical documents
  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to work flexible hours which may include weekends, holidays and nights as required by workload and seasonal needs
